Trackary: equipment fleet management software designed by The Level Code

We don't name clients without their written consent. The public proof of our work is software anyone can look at: Trackary, which we publish and keep evolving ourselves. This page describes what it does, what it doesn't do, and what this project says about how we build business software.

In short

Trackary is equipment fleet management software and a CMMS (GMAO in French) for construction equipment, designed, built and run in production by THE LEVEL CODE, a development studio in Lille. It brings together the equipment fleet, VGP (vérification générale périodique) inspection and check tracking, defects, job scheduling and the maintenance logbook, on the web and on a mobile app that works without a network. It is our own product, presented on trackary.com.

Trackary in a few lines

Trackary is aimed at companies that manage a fleet of machines: excavators, mini excavators, wheel loaders, MEWPs, telehandlers and forklifts, mobile cranes, compactors, road-rail and rail vehicles, generators and compressors. It is used by the people who organise and carry out maintenance: mechanics, workshop managers, road-rail technicians and inspectors.

The software is currently in production under its former name, Voirail: Trackary is the new name, and the login link still points to Voirail. The screens shown on trackary.com use fictional data.

What Trackary does

On the office side, the web app brings together the fleet, inspections, defects, scheduling and the maintenance logbook. On the field side, the mobile app shows the technician their jobs for the day and lets them record their work on site. Full detail on each feature is on trackary.com.

  • One record per machine: category, specifications, hour meter, compliance and maintenance logbook
  • Inspection tracking: VGP dates, safety equipment and, for road-rail machines, bonding continuity tests and RFN approval, with upcoming deadlines to prepare
  • Reporting defects from the field, with severity (major or minor fault), affected component, findings and photos
  • Job scheduling: a time slot, an assigned technician, who finds the job in their own schedule
  • Mobile work reports: checklist items, observations, meter readings and signature
  • Each machine's maintenance logbook, with PDF export of the work report

A mobile app that works without a network

On a railway, in a trench or deep inside a depot, network coverage is often missing. In Trackary's mobile app, already-loaded data stays accessible offline: jobs, machine records, history. The technician can record their entries and photos without a network; they sync once the connection returns.

This only works under one condition, which we state clearly: the app must have been opened with a network connection before setting off, so the data is loaded. The web dashboard, by contrast, requires a connection. This is the kind of rule we define right from the scoping of a field app: what gets carried on the device, what waits to be sent, and how the user knows.

What Trackary doesn't do

Stating what software doesn't do avoids unpleasant surprises. Trackary records information and deadlines; it does not carry out inspections and does not issue approvals. VGP inspections are still carried out by a competent person or inspection body.

  • No automatic fault diagnosis
  • No telematics data reading
  • No geolocation of technicians or machines
  • No carrying out of VGP inspections or issuing of approvals

What this project says about how we build business software

Trackary is business software in the strict sense: it starts from the actual work of a workshop and a fleet, with its regulatory inspections, its defects and its jobs, and connects the field to the office. We designed it, built it and run it in production: hosting, backups, updates and support are our responsibility. That is what lets us speak concretely about offline mode, synchronisation and operating costs.

Your software won't copy Trackary's features: we start from your own rules. But the same requirements apply to custom business software, to a B2B SaaS or to the takeover of existing software: start from the users, state what the software does and doesn't do, plan for offline fieldwork, keep the history.

What Trackary requiresWhat that brings to your project
A reliable offline mode in the fieldSynchronisation and conflict rules are set from the scoping stage
A maintenance logbook that keeps historyMigration of old data is handled at the start, not the end
A SaaS run day to dayHosting, backups and updates thought through from the design stage
Regulatory inspections to trackA clear boundary between what the software does and what stays human

Frequently asked questions

Who built Trackary?

Trackary was designed and built in-house by THE LEVEL CODE, a software development studio in Lille, which publishes it and runs it in production.

Are Trackary and Voirail the same software?

Yes. Trackary is the new name for Voirail; the software is currently in production under the name Voirail.

Does Trackary work without a network?

Yes on mobile, for already-loaded data: it stays accessible and entries sync once the network returns. The app must be opened with a network connection before setting off. The web dashboard requires a connection.

How much does Trackary cost?

Price on request, based on the number of machines tracked, with web and mobile apps, updates, hosting and support included. Requests are made on trackary.com.

Can you build software like Trackary for my company?

We build custom business software from your own rules, not copies of Trackary. See Custom business software and our method.
